Today is the Last Day to Return an Absentee Ballot for the House District 49 Special Election

Monday, August 3, 2020 – MONTGOMERY – Ahead of the House District 49 Special Primary Election, Secretary of State John H. Merrill reminds voters in District 49 that today is the last day to return an absentee ballot.

House District 49 includes parts of Bibb, Chilton, and Shelby counties.

Absentee ballots can be delivered in-person to the county Absentee Election Manager. Absentee ballots should be returned by the close of business in order to be counted.

If returned by mail, absentee ballots must be postmarked by today and received by noon on Election Day in order to be counted.

Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on August 4 for any eligible voter who wishes to vote in person.

Please note that there will not be a Democratic Special Primary Election because only one Democratic candidate qualified for the Election.

If necessary, a Runoff Election will be held on September 1.

The General Election will be held on November 17.
