Secretary of State John H. Merrill Releases Information Reminding Voters of New Crossover Voting Rules


September 18, 2017 - MONTGOMERY - On September 26, 2017, voters will return to the polls to make a final selection for the candidate they want to represent the Republican party as their nominee in the Senate Special Election, which will be held December 12, 2017. 

As a result of legislation passed in the  2017 Session of the Alabama State Legislature sponsored by Senator Tom Whatley of Auburn and Representative Arnold Mooney of Indian Springs, voters will only be able to cast a ballot for the party that they selected in the August 15th Primary.

The candidate for the Democratic party has already been selected, but voters that voted a Republican ballot on August 15th as well as voters that did not vote at all will both be able to cast a ballot regarding the Republican representative for the Senate General Election which will be held December 12, 2017.

Polls will be open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on September 26, 2017.
