Secretary of State John H. Merrill Observes Veterans Day

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tuesday, November 10, 2020 – MONTGOMERY – Alabama Secretary of State John H. Merrill joins citizens across the country in observing Veterans Day:

“Tomorrow, November 11, 2020, Americans of all backgrounds, parties, and more will come together to remember and honor those who have so bravely served and continue to serve our country.

“It is these heroes who selflessly defend not only our right to vote, but the countless other rights we enjoy as American citizens.

“Far too often we forget that our freedom comes with a cost. While we may never be able to fully repay those who defend our freedoms, we can offer our respect and appreciation in our daily lives.

“The Office of the Secretary of State, in collaboration with Alabama Farmers Federation and ALFA Insurance, is proud to offer the ‘Vote in Honor a Veteran’ program, in which Alabamians may receive a lapel pin and bumper sticker upon completing a testimonial expressing their support and admiration for our courageous veterans.

“In addition, we were delighted to see so many Alabama voters proudly wearing their ‘I Vote in Honor of a Veteran’ stickers after leaving the polls on November 3, which were provided by Elections Systems & Software.

“I am eternally grateful for the sacrifice and dedication of our veterans to our great country. I hope you can join me at the Dothan Veterans Day Celebration. If not, however, I hope you will join me on Veterans Day in praying for and thanking our nation’s bravest and best.
