Secretary Merrill Announces New Reporting Requirements for FCPA Filers


June 30, 2017 - MONTGOMERY - As a part of our continued efforts to supply more accountability and transparency in the area of campaign finance reporting, Secretary Merrill has authorized the creation of an additional form to report credit transactions. This form requires all credit transactions to be itemized and candidates will no longer be able to report a single gross check for all itemized expenditures. That is to say, you will no longer write one single gross check to cover the credit card bill related to your campaign expenses or other expenses related to your service as an elected official.

This new reporting process will give greater transparency to Alabama voters and allow candidates and political action committees a more accurate way to report these transactions.

A copy of the final form is copied below. Please note that candidates will report these transactions in the exact same way they report other expenditures.
