ACTS 2011-687 AND 2011-697 RECEIVE PRECLEARANCE FROM U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
As previously noted on the Secretary of State’s website, the State of Alabama has been
awaiting preclearance of Acts No.
2011-687 and
2011-697. On September 26, 2011,
the Secretary of State’s office was notified that the U.S. Department of Justice
has precleared both Acts. Act No.
2011-687 requires, among other things,
monthly FCPA reports of contributions and expenditures beginning with the 2012 election
cycle for principal campaign committees and PACS that have filed statements pursuant
to Code of Alabama, sections 17-5-4 and 17-5-5, respectively. Thus, reports for the month
of September are due on Friday, September 30, 2011.
