This election has been temporarily suspended by order of the Alabama
Supreme Court pending further review by that court and, until the
Supreme Court resolves issues related to this election, is not included
in the count of elections that apply towards the corporate contributions
limits. UPDATE: This election has been cancelled by
order of the Alabama Supreme Court, which has issued a decision that the
Governor shall fill by appointment the vacancy in this seat.

Secretary of State, pursuant to
Amendment 97 of the Alabama Constitution of 1901, made a
finding that a legally qualified candidate for election to
the vacancy was unopposed. Therefore, under that amendment, the
special general election was not to be held and the unopposed
candidate was to be issued a certificate of election. |
