Do I need to reserve a corporate title? Only domestic for-profit corporations are required to reserve a corporate name. We do not reserve a name for a "non-profit" domestic corporation.
How do I reserve a corporate name & obtain a "certificate of name reservation" for a domestic "for-profit" corporation?

To reserve a corporate name, you may call our Corporations Call Center at 334-242-5324 or fax (334-240-3138) your request to the Corporations Division. Be sure to provide the name you wish to reserve, the complete address and phone number of the individual requesting the name reservation, the county where you plan to file your Articles of Incorporation and the nature of your corporation's business.

Secretary of State: $40.00
Minimum Probate Judge fee: $35.00

For-Profit Filing Procedures

Your corporate name must include the word "Corporation" or "Incorporated" or an abbreviation of one of these words ("Inc." or "Corp.").

File the original and two copies of the Articles of Incorporation and the Certificate of Name Reservation in the county where the corporation's registered office is located.

The Probate Judge will collect the Secretary of State filing fee.
